Performance Measurement
Graphic communications companies seeking to measure their organization's current performance and chart a course for ongoing improvement will find a wealth of resources at NAPL, including our Performance Indicators and Management Plus programs and our Strategic Assessment service.
■ PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
NAPL Performance Indicators program tracks vital metrical printers need to compete in today's marketplace. Run by NAPL's Printing Economic Research Center (PERC), the service complements the macro data PERC provides through its Printing Business Index and other indicators by affording participants micro data on how their individual companies are performing.
Performance Indicators sets itself apart from traditional benchmarking programs by monitoring the critical metrics that are the most relevant in today's business environment and giving participants insights into their organizations' current performance and future prospects. Companies that participate in the service every month get a report on their performance compared with both internal and external metrics.
For information on the Performance Indicators services, email Andrew Paparozzi, NAPL vice president and chief economist, at apaparozzi@napl.org.

THE MANAGEMENT PLUS PROGRAM
The first step is to complete the self-evaluation form and use the information
internally to take an in-depth look at nine areas:
Financial Performance
- Internal Control Systems- Marketing/Sales Plan
- Vendor Relations
Business Planning
- Human Resources- Environmental/Safety Concerns
- Quality Control- Community/Industry Relations
We recommend you then take the next step and enter the Management Plus competition. More than 150 companies have received prestigious Management Plus awards in the 29 years since the program's inception. Entries
are judged on how performance in each of the areas listed above compares to industry
standards among companies of similar size to yours.
The Management Plus Awards are presented each year during NAPL's Top Management Conference. For information about participating in the Management Plus Program, please call Robin Schabacker at (800) 642-6275, Ext. 6307 or email rschabacker@napl.org.
